2023 Honorees

The AAUW Mission is to advance equity for women and girls through advocacy, education, philanthropy and research. Puyallup Valley Branch supports this mission by partnering with AAUW of Washington and our local school districts to identify outstanding young women and to provide them with public recognition for their achievement.  Each spring our Branch recognizes a junior girl from eight local high schools in the STEM fields of science and mathematics.  Each girl is selected by her high school based on superior achievements in these fields.

Gwen Fletcher Memorial Scholarship

Gwen Fletcher had a long career as an educator, principal and administrator with the Puyallup School District.  She was a charter member of the Puyallup Valley AAUW Branch founded in 1979 and was an active member until her death in 2016.  The scholarship was established by the Puyallup Valley Branch in 2017 and has been awarded every year since to a High School Scholar chosen from previous year’s honorees.
